I became a vegan in July 2015 after almost five years as a vegetarian.

Animal ethics was my primary motivation, but I also enjoyed the idea of eating cleaner and healthier.

I discovered new grains, pulses, legumes, nuts and seeds, and ate more fruits and vegetables.

I also learnt from nutritionists to take a daily B12 vitamin tablet.

I found my running performances were unaffected by my lifestyle change although I knew that as my training increased, recovery would be crucial to my success.

With this in mind I purchased vegan protein powders and soon experimented with smoothie flavours.

I was also relieved when I found alternative vegan ingredients so I could continue to bake delicious desserts.

I am now a Bulk Powders affiliate member, mainly because I use the company’s great value products, which have inspired some memorable recipes.
